Clinical Supervision

Clinical and Professional Supervision
Clinical Supervision is a process which supports practitioners to provide a better, more confident, and creative service to clients. I work collaboratively with clinical psychologists, general psychologists, counsellors and other health and welfare practitioners, to reflect on and improve their professional practice. As a clinical supervisor, I can assist you to become a more effective practitioner by providing a confidential setting for you to explore thoughts and feelings about your work, reflect on cases, and experience new learning opportunities.
Focus of Supervision
I use both directive and non-directive approaches to clinical supervision, with the aim to help professionals to use:
  • Reflective practice: examine personal reactions arising in clinical work; identify strengths and limitations; improve clarity and decision making.
  • Clinical guidance and feedback to build on supervisee strengths and create new learning opportunities.
  • Self-care and wellbeing: supportive and non-judgemental approach; stress management; work-life balance.
  • Ethical issues: attending to the safety and welfare of both client/patient and supervisee; ethical decision making.
  • Private practice: issues such as clinical procedure; marketing, networking, etc.
  • Professional identity: developing your own strengths and style, professional development, career planning and goal-setting.
Plan of Supervision
Prior to starting supervision, we will discuss how we might work together and what supervision will look like for you:
  • Content of sessions
  • Your needs and expectations
  • When and where we will meet
  • Goals of supervision
  • Any other concerns
Delivery modes and settings
I can provide supervision in various methods and the format of the supervision can be adapted to meet supervisees’ needs:
  • One-to-one, in-person supervision in a private setting or organisational context
  • Telehealth-supervision, which is provided online, via video-conferencing (Zoom)
