Psychological & Educational Assessments Psychological and educational assessments are used by Psychologists to assess a range of cognitive (i.e. thinking) abilities in both adults and children. I offer comprehensive individually administered measures of cognitive assessment, which are conducted in a gentle and supportive space that allows both adults and children to feel comfortable and achieve the most accurate and realistic results. The assessments I currently offer include:
Psychological Cognitive Assessments
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fifth Edition (WISC-V) for ages 6-17 years
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) for ages 16-90 years
These assessments are clinical tools that can assist with identifying intellectual giftedness and disability in children and adults, identify cognitive strengths and difficulties relative to an individual, and inform recommendations where relevant.
Educational Cognitive Assessments Educational Cognitive Assessments have a more academic focus and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test, Third Edition (WIAT-III) is designed for Preschool-Yr12 (4yrs-19yrs). This assessment is often used in conjunction with the appropriate cognitive assessment and the WIAT-III is a clinical tool that assists with:
Identifying the academic strengths and difficulties of a student
Informing decisions regarding eligibility for educational services, educational placement, or a diagnosis of a specific Learning Disability
Designing learning plans and other relevant interventions
The process of cognitive assessment:
Initial screening consultation – telephone consultation to gather information including developmental history, medical issues, academic difficulties (where applicable), social/family relationships and any other concerns. This is to gain a holistic view of the child/adult to inform, interpret and recommend as appropriate.
Testing sessions – number of sessions will depend on the individual’s ability and the types of assessments required (usually a minimum of 2 sessions up to 2 hours)
Scoring and interpretation – the assessment(s) will be scored and interpreted against standardised norms
Report writing – the background information, behavioural observations during testing, test results and interpretations will be combined into a comprehensive report that includes relevant recommendations
Feedback session – in this session, I will offer you the outcomes of the testing, the report and relevant recommendations for school or home
Fees (subject to change): The following fees cover all of the time required to complete the relevant assessment (including initial screening appointment, testing appointment(s), scoring/interpreting, report writing and feedback session):
